MG BURVENICH INC. YACHT DESIGN

In the winter of 2003, M.G. Burvenich opened its doors to provide naval architecture, marine engineering and yacht design services. The 21st century has enabled MG Burvenich to take yacht design services to a whole new level.  Technology today allows the work force to be located anywhere in the world while still providing instant communications as if they were in the same office. The latest designs are so much more technical than even the designs of 10 years ago and require well-trained, experienced personnel to perform each portion of the design. MG Burvenich maintains professional relationships with engineering firms and equipment vendors in order to provide expert design services for each portion of the project. In this way, MG Burvenich is able to stay a relatively small company with an intimate setting for the client, and still provide expert engineering for every detail of the project.

Michael Burvenich, the president of MG Burvenich Yacht Design, graduated from the State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schyler in 1987 with an engineering degree majoring in naval Architecture, and with a US Coast Guard third assistant engineering license. After graduation, Michael worked at Gibbs and Cox on the design of the new DDG-51 Arleigh Burke class of destroyers. Upon departing from Gibbs and Cox, Michael designed Air Conditioning Systems for small yachts and worked for Seaworthy Systems in Washington DC developing maintenance programs for Naval ships.

In 1990 Michael was employed by Tom Fexas Yacht Design, one of the leading yacht design firms in the world at that time. Under Tom, Michael learned all aspects of the design of yachts. Tom is most famous for the design of one of the most efficient and best-riding semi-displacement hulls ever conceived. Michael was married in 1993 and had to leave the boating world and worked as a mechanical engineer for Black and Veatch designing large power plants while his wife finished her education. In 1997 Tom Fexas brought Michael back to Tom Fexas Yacht Design as the chief engineer.  During his second stay at Tom Fexas, Michael oversaw the design of boats ranging in lengths from 17 to over 200 feet.  In 2002, Michael decided to make a name for himself and started MG Burvenich, Inc.

MG Burvenich, Inc., is unique in that it is one of the few engineering companies in the yacht design field that is a registered, licensed engineering firm. Michael is a registered professional engineer in the states of North Carolina and Florida, and would like the opportunity to work for you.
